The Ready litter was an exciting adventure for us. We had intended to simple breed Paige to Chase’s frozen semen but when the vets thawed the semen, we all realized that it was of very poor quality. So poor that we did not expect Paige to get pregnant. We inseminated Paige via TCI with the Chase semen but since we expected this to be Paige’s last litter, we quickly decided to also use the Fargo semen that Leslie Dickerson had kindly shared with us a few years ago.
Unfortunately, when the vets thawed that second batch of semen, it was in even worse shape than the first. So we put it in as well via TCI and hoped for the best.
Miraculously, Paige got pregnant and had four beautiful puppies, 2 boys and 2 girls. We didn’t know who the daddies were but we were thrilled to get Mr Blue, Mr Green, Miss Yellow and Miss Raspberry.
Three weeks later, the first DNA lab informed us that Miss Yellow was sired by Fargo and the other three pups were sired by Chase. Yippee!
Gaylan’s Ready Litter
Hubble, the former Mr Green, headed off to Kansas. Trisha and Hubble are hoping to have all kinds of adventures, from conformation to obedience.
Emmy, the former Miss Yellow, moved to MA with Paula, Mike and Emmy’s uncle, Rooney. Emmy has already started nosework and agility. She’ll also get to do field work.
Ready, the former Miss Raspberry, came home with us. She is Glee’s sometimes-BFF and has started Nosework, field, tracking and obedience. What a treasure to have Sparky’s niece, Corey’s great-grand aunt in our home!
